The film is “Grease 3,” and ‘N Sync is the word. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the boy band from Orlando, Fla., has commissioned a script for a third installment of the popular musical, which originally starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield starred in “Grease 2.”
If all goes well, the band will drop its squeaky-clean look for black leather jackets and greased-up hairdos sported by the T-Birds. The only roadblock at this point is the actors ‘ strike looming next spring in Hollywood.
“We’re going ahead and getting the script written,” ‘N Sync’s Lance Bass told reporters. “It’s a go from the studios, and we’ve just got to wait until the strike is over, then we can start filming.”
And according to the rumor mill, the fab five aren’t the only big-name singers who will appear in the film. There’s talk that Britney Spears will play a Pink Lady in the picture to create some real-life sparks onscreen with her current beau, ‘N Sync’s Justin Timberlake.
“It’s gonna be a huge, huge movie, and we’ve got some major, major people in it,” Bass said back in April. “We’re the five stars of it with another person that you’re gonna know very well.”
Representatives from both camps neither confirm nor deny the rumor.
