The All-American Rejects star practised walking in heels for prostitute role

The All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter tottered around his kitchen naked, wearing high heels in preparation for his role as a transgender prostitute in the band’s latest music video.
The rockers unveiled a gritty, 11-minute short film last month (Jul17) to accompany the release of their new singles Sweat and Close Your Eyes, and in the promo, Ritter starred as a privileged man who takes to the streets at night as a cross-dressing prostitute named Betsy.
The singer donned a platinum blonde wig, polka dot top, short skirt, white fishnet stockings, and heels for the gender-bending character, and he was so determined to perfect Betsy’s walk, he practised for days in the comfort of his own home – and received a few pointers from his wife, Elena Satine.
“It was a really exciting leap for me to be able to go through character development, walking around my kitchen naked in high heels every morning for a couple of weeks to get into the character,” he tells People magazine.
“It was nice to feel graceful, sexy, empowered – especially in six-inch platforms,” Ritter continues. “I loved preparing for her – just waking up every morning… going through my routine, finding that confidence in my walk and finding the way that she stepped, the way that she gesticulated. It all fell into place, which was really a unique experience for me. My wife even helped me with walking!”
Ritter explains the premise for the film came from his recently exploration of spirituality.
“I think we all have that yin and yang, the feminine and masculine energy in us,” he says.
Sweat and Close Your Eyes are the first new songs from The All-American Rejects’ first album in five years, the follow-up to 2012’s Kids in the Street.
