The Love Boat stars to receive Hollywood Walk of Fame star

The cast of classic U.S. series The Love Boat is set to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in celebration of the show’s 40th anniversary.
Actors Gavin MacLeod, Jill Whelan, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Lauren Tewes, and Fred Grandy reunited on U.S. breakfast show Today on Tuesday (23May17) to reminisce about their time on the drama, and during their appearance, they were surprised with the news of the sidewalk honour.
Co-host Hoda Kotb presented the stars with a sign detailing the Walk of Fame accolade, which will be unveiled later this year (17) “in recognition of their contribution to the history of television”.
Upon hearing the news, a stunned Whelan exclaimed, “That’s the coolest thing ever. I will never spit my gum out on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (again)! That’s amazing.”
And MacLeod added, “They (producers) told us last night there’s something happening in the fall, and we’ve been trying to put it (together); we never thought it was this.”
The Love Boat, which aired from 1977 to 1987, followed the adventures of the crew and passengers on the Pacific Princess cruise ship.
