Tom Petty fans pay birthday tribute by visiting Free Fallin’ song landmarks

Tom Petty fans celebrated the eve of what would have been the rocker’s 67th birthday on Thursday night (19Oct17) with a “vampire walk” through California’s San Fernando Valley.
Over 300 devotees paid tribute to the Heartbreakers leader, who died at the beginning of the month, by visiting landmarks Petty namechecked in his 1989 hit Free Fallin’.
Petty sang, “All the vampires walking through the valley/Move west down Ventura Boulevard”, prompting local artist Mary Soracco to organise the ‘vampire walk’.”
“I love L.A., and he loved L.A., and that’s the reason why I’m doing this,” she told the Los Angeles Daily News en route with other devotees, including a Tom Petty lookalike.
