Tony Banks: ‘Genesis reunion is unlikely’

Tony Banks has dashed Genesis fans’ dreams of a reunion, because Phil Collins isn’t as fit as he was two decades ago.
The British supergroup hasn’t done anything together since Banks, Collins and Mike Rutherford wrapped up a worldwide reunion tour a decade ago, but fans are ever hopeful of another get together – this time featuring original frontman Peter Gabriel.
But Banks insists that’s almost impossible.
“I think it’s unlikely, really,” he tells Ultimate Classic Rock. “We don’t really plan too much, and Peter’s a terribly difficult person to tie down… even if he’s enthusiastic about it.
“Even getting everybody in the same place at the same time is impossible, really. The only chance you’ve ever got is Phil, Mike and I together, but even that’s a long shot because of Phil not quite being where he was 20 years ago.”
Collins returned to the stage last year (17) after back pain and other ailments forced him to announce his retirement.
