Tony Danza & Josh Groban became unlikely best friends on TV set

Tony Danza and Josh Groban have become unlikely best friends after playing father and son on TV.
The Taxi veteran has teamed up with the singer for new comedy series The Good Cop, in which his crooked police officer character has to live with his honest son, and Tony admits he was very impressed with his co-star from the start.
Danza even sent Josh a letter at the end of the first week of filming, crediting his new castmate with making his latest TV gig such fun.
“I worked with a guy once who told me, ‘When you do a show, it’s about the surprise’, and I think Josh is the surprise…,” he tells Access Hollywood. “He’s funny.
“The second week, I wrote him a note and I said, ‘I just want to tell you how much I admire your work and your work ethic… I don’t presume to be the greatest judge, but I’m having a great time’.”
“He jumps in,” Tony continues. “Not only does he know his lines, he’s on time and he doesn’t bump into furniture, and when you look into a guy’s eyes when you’re acting with him, you know he’s either thinking about his lines or he’s there with you.”
And the feeling’s mutual for Groban, who adds, “He teaches by example and watching somebody like Tony on set, his professionalism, and the way he treats everybody on set… This is a new thing for me… I was terrified going into it and he made it super comfortable for me.”
The Good Cop debuts on Netflix on Friday (21Sep18).
