Twenty One Pilots make RIAA history with Blurryface album

Rockers Twenty One Pilots’ 2015 album Blurryface has made sales history in the U.S. after becoming the first release to have every track certified at least gold.
The band’s breakthrough 14-song project received the prestigious distinction from officials at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on Thursday (01Mar18), after their tune Hometown became the last one to cross the 500,000 units mark to achieve gold status.
The six singles from Blurryface – Heavydirtysoul, Fairly Local, Lane Boy, Tear In My Heart, Ride, and Stressed Out – have previously gone platinum or multi-platinum.
Although the milestone is the first in RIAA history, Twenty One Pilots benefited from a 2013 change in certification rules, allowing officials to take into account on-demand streams from music platforms like Spotify, adding the figures to traditional and digital sales and radio play data, reports Billboard.com.
