Weather forces Jimmy Barnes to cancel AFL Grand Final gig

Rocker Jimmy Barnes has cancelled an Adelaide concert coinciding with the Australian Football League (AFL) Grand Final due to extreme weather.
The Scottish-born musician was due to perform at an event at the city’s Botanic Park, where fans could rock out and watch a broadcast of the Australian rules football game taking place across the country in Melbourne.
However, due to storms causing flooding in the region, the event has been cancelled, with fans urged to watch the match between the Western Bulldogs and Sydney Swans at home.
“Due to the ongoing extreme weather in Adelaide, the band and I will not performing at Botanic Park for the AFL Grand Final,” Jimmy wrote on his Facebook page. “If you’re watching the game, stay indoors and stay safe.”
Wild weather has battered Adelaide and the surrounding area since Wednesday (29Sep16), with heavy rain and high winds leading to the cancellation of a number of public events.
American rapper A$AP Ferg battled through the bad weather to perform at the city’s The Gov venue on Wednesday (28Sep16) despite power blackouts interrupting his set.
