DVD Launch: Bringing ‘Sex-y City’ Back — Pink Carpet Fashion Report!

[IMG:L]If you’re anything like me, your favorite place to sport high heels is anywhere you can sit down while wearing them…and still look glam. Well, we’ve found the perfect opportunity for you to break out your Blahniks, kick back and have your own guilty pleasure glam moment while pressing ‘play’.

Yes, for all you Carrie-Samantha-Miranda-Charlotte-channeling indoor glamazons, the Sex and the City DVD has finally arrived.

At the stately 5th Avenue New York Public library, the place where a certain hush-hush event happened for Carrie, the pink carpet was rolled out to toast the $152-plus million box-office grossing movie that brought back the adventures of the fab four to the big screen this past spring.

Now returning to the format in which we got to know them best–the intimate small screen–you can hop aboard the Carrie n’ Big rollercoaster ride, while projecting fierce fantasies of your own life into theirs from the comfort of your couch.

The Sex and the City: The Movie — Extended Cut DVD brings special features such as: commentary by writer/director Michael Patrick King; a chat with Sarah Jessica Parker and King; “The Fabulous Fashion of Sex“; Fergie in the studio; additional new scenes; frothiness, snark and the ever-screaming Charlotte.

Of course, for the DVD release party, we know you’d be eyeing their fashions. We were too. So here’s a little preview fashion report for you!:

Fashionable Who?: Kim Cattrall – a.k.a. Samantha, the man-eating vixen

The Look: Let’s get this party started right, and begin on a fabulous tip! Giving you a simple, unpretentious, straightened coif to the side, in luminous gradations of gold, Mz. Cattrall knows how to skate right past wannabe, and into ‘I am’ land, with her comfortably fashionable look. With a touch of black bra, peeking out from a sequined frontal zipped mono-piece, enhanced by a velvet jacket (which we might’ve removed for photos), Kim ‘s not playing games in the baby leagues, and her scarlet manicure says so.

Fashionable Who?: Sarah Jessica Parker  a.k.a. Carrie Bradshaw, ‘it’ girl columnist

The Look: We’re gonna travel from head-to-toe on this glam-gurl, ’cause although it’s outstanding, we’re not 100% sure that the look is full-proof; but no matter, this daring diva producer has been laughing her way right to the bank, past the crotchety critics and the naysayers. The fact that confidence is a BIG part (pardon the pun) of her look, is a winning element right there. But let’s start from the complimentary Audrey Hepburn coif and Upper East Side jewels: winning. The charcoal eyes: fiery. The black, satin size ‘0’ hugging sleeveless cocktail dress: classy. The diaphanous gloves: um, quirky, but very Carrie-inspired. The Manolos: open-toe style, bold n’ cute for fall season wear; candy-apple color…not so much. The pose: working it!

Fashionable Who?: Manolo Blahnik – a.k.a. legendary shoe designer

The Look: So this is what the man–who’s responsible for the reignited wave of fashionably bound-foot women prancing across the world–looks like. Smart, distinguished, and RICH beyond our wildest dreams, meet Mr. Blahnik. His shoes have become so ubiquitous, following costume designer Patricia Field‘s use of them in dressing the SATC  women, that they’re simply known as ‘Manolos’. While his suit could’ve fit a tad better, the slate color and slight polish works well with the bold, pink-striped bow tie choice. And you thought shoe-making was a lonely career–think again kids! You wish you were as revered as this man, for keeping women and transgendered folk, who’ll submit topain, literally on their toes.

Fashionable Who?: Cynthia Nixon – a.k.a. Miranda, Ms. No-nonsense

The Look: Now Cynthia has been pulling off some rather interesting looks on the various carpets of late. She was smashing at the London premiere, and has been coasting on chic ever since. While this gold-get-up might’ve looked a bit blasé on some; we think Cynthia‘s brought it to the right level for a DVD launch. For G-d’s sake, one doesn’t need to wear an Oscar gown at every event. Sometimes, eye-catching, waist-cinching, low-key classic is the way to go. Anyway, who needs to flash cleavage when you can really act? Not Mz. Nixon. We love when the Nixon ‘do’ is a little more robust and burnt-orange; but hey, she knows, a lady has to change it up now and again.

Fashionable Who?: Mario Cantone, a.k.a. Anthony, uptight Charlotte’s raunchy, gossipy wedding planning friend

The Look: Well, the electric magenta heel in mouth starts it out out on the right tip. Suave, clean and coiffed, Cantone opts for the standard crisp white shirt, handsomely tailored black suit to rock it out with the ladies at the SATC Pink Carpet festivities. We know he can girlie-it-up when he wants to, but here Cantone is channeling ambiguous Euro-machismo–and it suits him well. Love the haircut Mario. You go!
