Trance legend Robert Miles dead at 47

Legendary trance DJ Robert Miles has passed away at the age of 47, according to a report from Italy.
The Swiss-born musician, best known for his 1996 hit Children, passed away on Tuesday night (9May17) after suffering from a mystery illness, editors at DJ Mag Italia report.
His friend and fellow DJ Joe T Vannelli told the publication, “The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset.”
He added, “I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.”
Miles was born Roberto Concina in Switzerland before moving to Italy as a child. He worked as a DJ in clubs and on Italian radio, and used his earnings to establish his own recording studio.
He recorded Children in 1994, with the track reaching an international audience two years later after it was championd by BBC Radio One DJ Pete Tong. The track topped the chart in 12 countries and reached number two in the U.K.
Children’s popularity helped propel his debut album Dreamland into the top ten of the British album charts.
Tong lead the tributes to Miles on Twitter, writing, “Pete Tong said: “Sad to hear Robert Miles passing r.i.p thanks for the music.”
Boy George, Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren and fellow ’90s trance stars Chicane and Darude also expressed shock and sadness that the Swiss-Italian DJ had passed away.
