Elizabeth Taylor Blasts Dying Stories

Dame Elizabeth Taylor blasted reports she’s close to death and suffering from memory stealing Alzheimer’s Disease in her first TV interview for three years last night.

The movie veteran appeared lucid and alert on CNN chat show Larry King Live to promote her new jewellery line, House Of Taylor, and debunk rumors she’s almost dead.

Lashing out at tabloids who consistently report Taylor is dying, the actress said, “Am I dead? Am I alive…? Come on, do I look like I’m dying? Do I look like, or sound like, I have Alzheimer’s?

“They (tabloids) have nothing else dirty to write about anybody else. That’s all I can think of. They won’t let me retire and I don’t want to retire because I’m opening a jewellery launch (sic) tomorrow in Las Vegas at the jewellery show… and I’m very busy.”

Taylor can’t believe friends are telling the tabloids the false stories about her failing health.

She adds, “Do you think any friends of mine would say things like that (and) I don’t believe I have enemies. I think they’re (tabloids) trying to sell magazines… They’ve never sold a clean story. Some audiences out there…likes scandal; they like filth.”

But wheelchair-bound Taylor admits she is in agony due to her crooked back: “My back has been chronically bad since I was a teenager. I was born with scoliosis, a curvature of the spine, and osteoporosis.”
