The Facts of Life star Charlotte Rae dead at 92

The Facts Of Life star Charlotte Rae has died just days after news of the TV show’s reboot was announced.
The actress played Mrs. Garrett on the beloved 1980s series, a spin-off of Diff’rent Strokes.
She passed away on Sunday (05Aug18) at her home in Los Angeles. A cause of death has not been released, but last year (17), Rae revealed she was battling cancer.
She was 92.
Born Charlotte Rae Lubotsky in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rae started out in local theatre and radio before landing her big TV break as Sylvia Schnauser on the classic comedy Car 54, Where Are You?
She became the house mother at an all-girls’ boarding school in The Facts of Life after her appearance as Edna Garrett on Diff’rent Strokes was a big hit in the late 1970s.
Rae played the beloved TV character until 1986, when health reasons forced her to step down. She was replaced by Cloris Leachman.
Rae also appeared on ER, Pretty Little Liars, and The King of Queens, as well as in films like Don’t Mess with the Zohan.
Her memoir, The Facts of My Life, was published in 2015.
A reboot of The Facts of Life is in the early stages at Sony Pictures TV with production companies run by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel circling the project.
