Meryl Streep lends her voice to this environmentalist film, Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth, based on the book by notable children’s book author, Oliver Jeffers.
The movie is about an existential search for one’s greater purpose on earth. A little boy feels lost for seemingly no reason, a feeling his father very much relates to but cannot resolve. The boy struggles between appreciating the earth and being a homebody, between understanding nature in a museum and actually physically experiencing it in person.
One’s relationship with nature is a very personal one that goes hand in hand with finding your purpose in the world. It can be a lot for a little kid’s mind – and for an adult’s mind too! This film touches on this concept beautifully and provides wonderful tools for finding peace and purpose while being content with the vast unknown.
Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth (2020) stars Meryl Streep, Chris O’Dowd, Ruth Negga, and Jacob Tremblay.
