Following the cancellation of his Saint Pablo Tour, concerning rants about Jay Z having hitmen and voicing supporting for Donald Trump, Kanye West has been hospitalized.
According to NBC News, the LAPD received a request for a medical welfare check on West around 1:20 p.m. PDT. Buzzfeed reports that initially, the call was a “disturbance call that became a medical emergency call,” and the rapper was hospitalized for his own health and safety.
According to TMZ, sleep deprivation seems to be the a major factor in his admittance to UCLA Medical Center, where he’s currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. Doctors believe he has suffered from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” The artist was being examined by a doctor for sleep deprivation when someone close to him decided he needed to be taken to the hospital. West was reportedly reluctant and needed to be restrained by paramedics while he was transported, as is customary with a 5150 hold.

West has been burning both ends of the candle, working on his own fashion line as well as a line for Adidas all while performing on his Saint Pablo tour. Pair that stress with Kim Kardashian’s traumatic robbery, and it makes perfect sense that ‘Ye is losing sleep. According to friends, Kanye has a diagnosed mental illness that he does not treat, so perhaps the stress has caused it to become unmanageable without help.
