British broadcaster Tom Vernon dead at 74

Beloved British broadcaster Tom Vernon has died, aged 74. The BBC TV and radio stalwart was best known for his travel shows – he explored Europe by bicycle and chronicled his trips for fans.
His popular programmes earned him the nickname the Fat Man on the Bicycle.
He passed away on 11 September (13) after suffering a heart attack at his home in France.
Vernon was also well known for his comical songs about topical news and events, and he also presented hit radio shows Kaleidoscope and Feedback on BBC Radio 4.
Among his many accolades, Vernon was honoured by the Argentine government for Channel 4’s Fat Man in Argentina show. Politicians in South America claimed the series helped to improve relations between Britain and Argentina after the Falklands War.
