Rogen didn’t realise Beastie Boys role was for film

The Knocked Up star portrays Michael ‘Mike D’ Diamond in Fight For Your Right Revisited, a movie written and directed by bandmate Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, which focuses on the making of the Beastie Boys’ 1986 video for (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!).

But Rogen admits he had no idea what he was signing up for when he spoke to Yauch, because he was so starstruck during the phone call.

He tells MTV News, “It was funny because we were in our office, and Evan (Goldberg, writing partner) was sitting across from me, and I was (on the phone) like, ‘Yeah, MCA? Yeah, yeah, OK, whatever you want! OK, sounds perfect’. And (Goldberg) was like, ‘What just happened?’ I was like, ‘I think I’m going to be in a Beastie Boys video’.

“That was it. It was amazing. I’m a huge Beastie Boys fan and they just called and asked if I wanted to be a part of it and I said yes without hesitation.”

Actor Danny McBride plays Yauch in the film, while Elijah Wood takes on the role of Adam Horovitz. Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Jack Black, Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon are also among the big names involved in the project, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah later this month (Jan11).
