Get To Know The Cast of ‘How I Met Your Father’

Hey Hollywooders! It’s Wednesday so you know what that means: time to find out what’s Good in the ‘Wood. We’re here to fill you in on all of the latest good news happening in Hollywood: yet another reboot of a fan-favorite TV show!

Hulu took to Twitter on Tuesday, August 10 to announce the cast of How I Met Your Father, their spinoff of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The TV show will star Hilary Duff, Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tien Tran, Suraj Sharma, and Tom Ainsley.

In an Instagram post, actress Francia Raisa shared her excitement over her role in the show. “Suit up! I am on cloud 9!!! THANK YOU GOD!” the actress boasted. “In tears and beyond excited to be working alongside this amazing talented cast. Let’s make this show legen-wait for it… dary!!!”

A closer look at the Hollywood stars in How I Met Your Father

Hilary Duff is no stranger to a leading role. The actress has been in Hollywood for decades, starring as Lizzie McGuire on the Disney Channel and landing other roles like Lorraine Baker in Cheaper by the Dozen and Sam Montgomery in A Cinderella Story. Most recently, Hilary Duff has played Kelsey Peters in the TV Land comedy Younger.

You might recognize Francia Raisa as the friend who donated her kidney to Selena Gomez. However, Francia has also had an abundant acting career. She’s starred in films like Bring It On: All or Nothing and Life-Size 2, as well as has played main roles in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Grown-ish.

Throughout his career, Chris Lowell has been a series regular in a number of TV shows including Veronica Mars, Private Practice, and Netflix’s GLOW. He has also starred in movies such as The Help and Promising Young Woman. Tien Tran has starred in TV shows Hot Date and Dark Air with Terry Carnation among others. She plays Jane Ji in the upcoming film Candyman.

Suraj Sharma played the lead role of Pi Patel in the 2012 film Life of Pi. Additionally, he’s starred in Million Dollar Arm and Happy Death Day 2U. Suraj was a series regular on the CBS comedy-drama God Friended Me, portraying the role of Rakesh Singh.

Tom Ainsley has acted in a number of TV roles including Nick Roane in E!’s The Royals and Benoît in the French historical fiction drama Versailles. 

What we can expect from How I Met Your Father

How I Met Your Father is set for a 10-episode release on Hulu. According to Deadline, “The story starts in 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Hilary Duff plays the lead character Sophie who, much similar to HIMYM, is telling her son the story of how she met his father. Hilary also acts as a producer on the series. Francia Raisa portrays Valentina, Sophie’s adventurous roommate. Valentina has a new fling with Charlie (Tom Ainsley), who followed her home to New York from her trip to London.

Chris Lowell will star as Jesse, an aspiring musician who works as an Uber driver in New York. Tien Tran plays Ellen, Jesse’s adoptive sister who has recently moved to New York after separating from her wife. Suraj Sharma will play Sid, Jesse’s best friend and roommate.

How I Met Your Father is created and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Deadline reported that the show will be executive produced by Pam Fryman, who directed all but 12 episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Pam is also set to direct the pilot episode of the new series.

A release date has not yet been announced for the series. According to Screen Rant, Hilary Duff shared a photo of the cast’s first table read to her Instagram story on August 5, indicating that How I Met Your Father is about to begin production.
