How I Met Your Father is set for a 10-episode release on Hulu. According to Deadline, “The story starts in 2021 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.”

Hilary Duff plays the lead character Sophie who, much similar to HIMYM, is telling her son the story of how she met his father. Hilary also acts as a producer on the series. Francia Raisa portrays Valentina, Sophie’s adventurous roommate. Valentina has a new fling with Charlie (Tom Ainsley), who followed her home to New York from her trip to London.

Chris Lowell will star as Jesse, an aspiring musician who works as an Uber driver in New York. Tien Tran plays Ellen, Jesse’s adoptive sister who has recently moved to New York after separating from her wife. Suraj Sharma will play Sid, Jesse’s best friend and roommate.

How I Met Your Father is created and written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Deadline reported that the show will be executive produced by Pam Fryman, who directed all but 12 episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Pam is also set to direct the pilot episode of the new series.

A release date has not yet been announced for the series. According to Screen Rant, Hilary Duff shared a photo of the cast’s first table read to her Instagram story on August 5, indicating that How I Met Your Father is about to begin production.
