MTV2 has declared October “Hip-Hop Month.”
Instead of its regular programming, which blends all styles of music, the music network will instead feature a wide range of video specials dedicated to hip-hop, including world premieres, artist spotlights, introspectives, and more.
The decision to dedicate an entire month to just one genre of music makes good sense, according to MTV2’s general manager David Cohn.
“Hip-hop is an essential part of MTV2’s programming,” he said in a network press release. “And with so many strong new releases out right now–from Jay-Z to Jadakiss to DMX–October turned out to be the perfect month to celebrate hip-hop music, culture and style.”
