Police investigating TV spoof about pedophiles

A secret report by British police officials has concluded that the producers of a TV spoof about how the media treat pedophiles should be prosecuted under the Protection of Children Act, the London tabloid News of the World reported Sunday. It quoted Michael Hames, former head of Scotland Yard’s obscene publications squad, as expressing anger over being set up by the producers of the show, The Brass Eye. “I was asked to be part of what they said was a serious examination of child pornography. They showed a number of images which I felt very uncomfortable about. Some were not only obscene but also posed the question whether child protection laws had been breached. They treated what is a very serious subject as a joke and I can only say I’m appalled.”
