A Quiet Place really gave the box office hell when it first appeared, becoming a shocking surprise for horror fans, not only welcoming Emily Blunt into a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by hyper-sensitive monsters, but also proving John Krasinski’s talents as a director in the spooky category. It became a quick turning point for popular horror at the time, and it was certainly capitalized upon with a second chapter that welcomed Cillian Murphy to the world of A Quiet Place.
Now we’re going all the way back.
The next chapter of A Quiet Place could be considered chapter zero, as the new movie is taking us back to the very day the world fell apart and mankind learned to keep its mouth shut for its own benefit. But who’s involved, and is anyone returning from the franchise? Here’s everything we know about A Quiet Place: Day One.

A Quiet Place: Day One Cast — Who’s in A Quiet Place’s prequel?
To the shock of many, the core cast of characters that we’ve grown attached to over the first two films aren’t expected to make an appearance here, but rather are making way for a new core cast. One man will return to reprise his role, though.
Legendary actor Djimon Hounsou is returning to the world of A Quiet Place as Island Man. We don’t know an awful lot about Hounsou’s mysterious character anyway, so we may be lucky enough to find out a little more about him as we see how he reacted to the end of the world over the course of the first days of the apocalypse. As for the rest of the main cast, Lupita Nyong’o, best known for her performance in Jordan Peele’s horror masterclass Us, is leading the film as Sam. She’s joined by Stranger Things’ breakout star Joseph Quinn as Eric, and Hereditary and Pig’s Alex Wolff as Reuben.
The film will also feature a supporting cast made up of Zay Domo Artist, Thea Butler, Jennifer Woodward, Sunjay Midda, Malik Jubal, Elijah Ungvary and Káit Feeney.
A Quiet Place: Day One Cast — is John Kransinski writing the Quiet Place prequel?
Though John Krasinski’s Lee Abbott won’t be making an appearance in this first day look at the world of A Quiet Place, that doesn’t mean the man himself won’t have a hand in the creation of the film.
John Krasinski is once again credited as one of the writers of the film, though the director’s chair has been reserved for someone else this time around. The same seems to go for the upcoming A Quiet Place: Part III, where he once again serves (for now) just as a writer.
Day One is directed by Michael Sarnoski, best known for directing star Alex Wolff in the Nicholas Cage drama Pig. Sarnoski wrote the film too, alongside Krasinski and Bryan Woods, co-writer of the previous A Quiet Place movies and 65, the prehistoric action flick starring Adam Driver.

A Quiet Place Day One Plot — What happens in the A Quiet Place prequel?
As you can probably imagine by the title, A Quiet Place: Day One will take place on what seems to be a regular day in New York City, home to the typical hustle and bustle — but much to the shock of Sam and Eric, it turns out to be the day the world ends. The film intends to introduce viewers to the apocalyptic day we’ve only before seen flashes of, the day t the world goes dark and humans come face to face with the hyper-sensitive monsters that have done a good job of wiping most people from the face of the planet.
The film will follow one small group of survivors after New York is first plunged into chaos, and it’ll be up to them to band together if they want to make it out of the city alive.
A Quiet Place Day One Trailers – where can I see more of A Quiet Place’s prequel?
We’ve so far had two trailers for A Quiet Place: Day One, the first debuting in back in February and introducing us to the first day of chaos for its world. Meteors crash out of the sky, monsters skewer civilians … it’s one hell of an ordeal.
The second trailer launched in May, and it officially introduced us to Sam and her cat (who she insists is a service cat) and Joseph Quinn’s Eric as they fight to escape a city that has been isolated by the US Military.
If you want to go in blind (or deaf), you might want to give the trailers a miss, but if you’re keen to see what lies in wait, the trailers do a pretty mighty job of setting the scene for the spooky thriller.
A Quiet Place Day One Release Date — When is the A Quiet Place prequel coming out?
A Quiet Place: Day One is finally launching in cinemas on June 28, so if you’ve been holding out for a thriller that takes you into the realms of total destruction, the end of June is the perfect time for you to get out movie theater. We don’t have any news yet on how soon it’ll be coming to streaming services, so if you’re keen do your local multiplex a favor.
