Despicable Me 4: A New Chapter in the Minions Saga

‘Despicable Me 4’ is officially returning with its fourth installment on July 3, 2024. As one of the most anticipated animated films of the year, this movie promises to bring back the humor, heart, and Gru in his domestic bliss.

Since its debut in 2010, the ‘Despicable Me’ franchise has become a global phenomenon, with the grossing over $3.7 billion worldwide.

Despicable Me 4: What To Expect 

‘Despicable Me 4’ introduces a new family member and a fresh arch-nemesis while sticking to its winning formula of energetic 3D animation, charming villainy, and laugh-out-loud humor. Gru, voiced by Steve Carrell, will once again navigate the challenges of fatherhood, with the addition of a new arch nemesis, Maxime Le Mal (Will Ferrell).

Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) and his family, including his newborn son Gru Jr., are forced to go into hiding when Maxime Le Mal, a flamboyant braggart who is part man, part cockroach, and pure evil, seeks revenge.

The movie also explores more of the family dynamics with Gru’s wife Lucy Wilde (Kristen Wiig) and their three daughters, Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Fans can look forward to new challenges and villains that will test the resilience and unity of this unconventional family.

New and Returning Voices

Steve Carell returns as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, and Dana Gaier as Edith. Agnes will have a new voice actor, Madison Polan.

Legendary comedian Will Ferrell joins the latest Despicable Me film as the supervillain Maxime Le Mal, partnered with Sofia Vergara, who voices the nefarious Valentina. Joey King takes on the role of Poppy, an aspiring supervillain. Additionally, Stephen Colbert and Chloe Fineman have been cast, although their roles remain undisclosed.

As always, the Minions are expected to deliver the biggest laughs. Especially when a blast of radiation transforms five of the little yellow guys into MEGA Minions. A montage showcases the MEGA Minions unleashed into society, using their new powers—elasticity, flight, super strength, laser vision, and the ability to eat through walls—in a series of delightfully entertaining scenarios. You’ll just have to witness the Minions yourself when ‘Despicable Me 4’ hits theaters on July 3, 2024.
