Starring alongside Keanu Reeves, Ana de Armas takes the lead in this adrenaline-fueled action thriller.
We’ve been eager to see Ana de Armas in a leading action role ever since she stole the spotlight as one of the standout Bond women in No Time to Die. Now, she’s stepping into another iconic action franchise: the John Wick universe, in Ballerina.
Ballerina, a spinoff within the John Wick franchise, has finally released its trailer via Lionsgate. The highly anticipated film began as an original story by screenwriter Shay Hatten in 2017, later reworked to fit the Wick world of assassins. The titular ballerina assassin made a brief appearance in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
A First Look at Ballerina: What To Expect
Taking place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the film follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) who is beginning her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.
In Ballerina, she embarks on a personal mission of revenge, hunting down those responsible for her family’s murder. The trailer teases Winston’s offer to take Eve to a “dance school,” though this time it involves mastering hand-to-hand combat, gun skills, and fighting dirty. As her journey unfolds, Eve faces off against dangerous enemies, taking them down—until a brief glimpse of the legendary Baba Yaga (John Wick) raises the stakes.
“How do I start doing what you do?” Eve asks John Wick, eager to follow in his footsteps.

The cast also includes Gabriel Byrne as the villain, alongside Anjelica Huston, David Castañeda, and Norman Reedus.
