Esther Canadas sued by ex-fiance over engagement ring

Spanish actress/model Esther Canadas has been slapped with a $313,560 (£195,975) lawsuit from her ex-fiance, hotelier Vikram Chatwal, in a bid to recover the engagement ring he gave her. Chatwal popped the question to The Thomas Crown Affair star in September (13) with an eight-carat emerald and diamond ring, but they parted ways a few weeks later and now he wants the sparkler back.
In papers filed in a New York court, Chatwal is requesting for Canadas to return the ring or pay him a monetary settlement, according to the New York Post.
The legal correspondence reads, “The plaintiff, Vikram Chatwal, believed his dream had come true when defendant, Esther Canadas, accepted his marriage proposal, but his dream morphed into a nightmare when upon the termination of the engagement, the defendant left the United States (for Mexico) with the engagement ring as the spoils of the romance.
“The relief sought is the return of the engagement ring from the Defendant or a money judgment of $313,560, plus interest, costs, disbursements and reasonable legal fees, along with such other and further relief as this court may deem just and proper.”
Canadas, who has been married twice before, has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
