“Coyote Ugly” Premiere

NEW YORK, July 31, 2000 — Body, brains and sexy stars required at the premiere of “Coyote Ugly.” With celebrities such as Tyra Banks, LeAnn Rimes, Hugh Jackman (“X-Men”) and ‘N Sync making a dash for the party, it would not have been surprising for such a sign to be posted on the Ziegfeld Theater doors.

“It is a big premiere night. I haven’t seen it with an audience. It should be crazy. My dad is in the audience tonight, so hopefully the men will behave themselves,” said star Piper Perabo.

“Coyote Ugly” has taken on a whole new meaning. To many, it’s a regretful night at the bar, for Jackman it’s “tequila slammers until you can’t stand up.” But for this summer’s moviegoers, “Coyote Ugly” is equivalent to a lot of skin, wet leather and the likes of supermodel Tyra Banks, newcomer Perabo and Bridget Moynahan dancing on a very dirty bar.

“I did a month of choreography for the dance. I grew up playing soccer, lacrosse and basketball so I was just fine when it came time to kick some ass,” said Moynahan.

With that said, producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s (“Gone in 60 Seconds”) newest creation takes us to New York’s hottest spot where water is banned, the bar maidens dance on fire and a girl named Violet (Perabo) pursues her dreams of a songwriting career.

“For men you have the beautiful girls, for women it’s a story about a young girl who has a dream and she obtains that dream,” said Bruckheimer. Co-stars Maria Bello (“ER”) and Izabella Miko, Poland’s newest import, also help serve up happy hour with a twist.

“I’m too young to get wild and crazy at a bar. Sometimes I get into clubs, but I leave the rowdy and crazy for the people who are of age,” said ‘N Sync’s Justin Timberlake.

The film also stars Adam Garcia, Melanie Lynskey and John Goodman. “Coyote Ugly” hits theaters Aug. 4.
