Leslie Grossman: ‘Amanda Bynes is very eager to get back into acting’

Amanda Bynes is “very eager” to return to her acting roots, according to her close friend Leslie Grossman.
Appearing on Busy Philipps’ talk show Busy Tonight recently, the host asked American Horror Story star Leslie for an update on Amanda, with whom she starred in sitcom What I Like About You from 2002 to 2006.
“I met her when she was 16 years old and you don’t know what you’re gonna get when you meet a young star of a show, it could be a nightmare. But from the get go, (she was) the sweetest, the funniest, the most hard working, and just a wonderful person,” Leslie smiled. “That show was a really fun and good time in my life, and we had such a good time doing that.”
The Hairspray actress was placed under a conservatorship controlled by her parents in 2013, after she was hospitalised on a 72-hour mental-health evaluation hold following her increasingly erratic behaviour at the time.
She enrolled in California’s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) during her break from the spotlight and is set to graduate later this year. In a recent interview with Paper magazine, Amanda, 32, spoke about her hopes for an acting comeback and, according to Leslie, she can’t wait to get started.
“She’s doing fantastic, she really is,” Leslie continued. “She looks beautiful, and she’s very eager to get back into acting, which I think she’ll have no problem with. I think everyone wants to see her doing something.
“I think all of us have had tough times in our lives, and we haven’t had to do it in front of the glare of a camera. I’m very, very proud of her, I really am. She’s doing great.”
