Paul Anka cancels Israel concerts

Veteran entertainer Paul Anka has cancelled his upcoming concerts in Israel amid mounting tensions in the Middle East. The singer was due to perform two shows in Tel Aviv next week (beg21Jul14), but he has now called off the gigs and postponed his trip to the country after clashes between Israeli and Palestinian forces.
A representative for Anka, who plans to reschedule the concerts once the political unrest subsides, says in a statement, “Due to the current situation in the Middle East, Paul Anka and the local promoters will be postponing his upcoming concerts scheduled for July 24 and 26, 2014. Management is in constant communication with our local promoter friends, trying to find a solution to the rescheduled dates. Once this is worked out in the next few days the local promoter will make the announcement.
“We ask all current ticket holders to keep their tickets and await that announcement. Mr. Anka assures you that once the local situation is resolved, he will be there with the latest version of his fantastic performance.”
The news comes after Neil Young & Crazy Horse and The Brian Jonestown Massacre cancelled gigs in Israel this week (ends20Jul14) due to the turmoil.
A number of other high-profile acts, including Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey and the Backstreet Boys, are due to perform in the country in the coming weeks.
