Spade Attacked in Home

Actor-comedian David Spade was attacked with a stun gun in his Beverly Hills, Calif., home by an employee who was apparently trying to rob him, police said Wednesday night.

Spade, 36, star of the NBC sitcom “Just Shoot Me,” suffered minor injuries and was treated by Beverly Hills Fire Department paramedics an the scene of the attack Wednesday morning, police Sgt. Tom Van Ausdell said.

The employee, whom police identified as David Malloy, 29, of Los Angeles, had left Spade’s home by the time police arrived. He was arrested hours later in Brea, Calif., and booked on suspicion of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a stun gun, police said. Bail was set at $50,000.

Malloy was a personal assistant to the actor, Van Ausdell said. He did not know how Malloy got into Spade‘s home.

On “Just Shoot Me,” which also stars Laura San Giacomo and Wendie Malick, Spade plays the assistant to a magazine publisher played by George Segal.

Spade is scheduled to appear tonight on VH1’s first ever My Music Awards. No word yet on whether he’ll keep the commitment.
