The Darkness axe show after singer falls sick

British rockers The Darkness axed a show in Wales on Tuesday (19Nov13) after singer Justin Hawkins fell sick. The I Believe in a Thing Called Love hitmakers were due to play at The Tivoli venue in Buckley, Wales on Tuesday, but they had to call off the show due to Hawkins’ health scare.
The frontman has been banned from singing and ordered to rest his voice while he recovers from inflammation in his throat and a cold.
A statement posted on the band’s website reads, “It is with great regret that we have to announce that, unfortunately, The Darkness will be unable to perform in Buckley… Justin has been told by a doctor that not only should he not be singing… he should also not even be talking throughout the day, such is the inflammation of his throat caused by an extended run of shows without a day off, and lingering traces of a cold… At time of writing this, the doctor and Justin believe that a day’s full rest, vitamins and soothing liquids will ensure he is back on form… so this should not cause concern for our friends in Scotland who’s shows follow.”
The rockers hope to reschedule the concert for next year (14). They are due back on stage in Kilmarnock, Scotland on Wednesday (20Nov13).
