Rhett Miller damages vocal cords

Singer Rhett Miller has been ordered not to speak for a week after damaging his vocal cords at a show in Dallas, Texas last week (07Apr13). The Old 97’s frontman has pulled out of two gigs in Hudson Valley, New York as he recovers.
In posts on Twitter.com page, Miller writes, “After blowing my voice out on Sunday, I have now got full-blown hemorrhaged (sic) vocal cords. Very painful. Complete vocal rest for a week. Had to cancel a couple of Hudson Valley appearances in the next two days, for which I feel pretty bad.”
The alt-country star admits he is struggling to cope with the vocal injury, which also silenced British soul star Adele back in 2011.
He adds, “This vocal cord situation is crazy. It feels like I have a cherry tomato stuck in my voice box. And not talking? How does one do that? Not being allowed to talk makes me realise just how much I must talk when I am allowed. How does anyone put up with me?”
Miller is next due on stage for a solo concert on Thursday (18Apr13) in Washington, D.C., while his band the Old 97’s is scheduled to play the Fort Worth Music Festival in Texas on 17 May (13).
