Aaron Carter files for bankruptcy

Pop star Aaron Carter has filed for bankruptcy with debts of $2.2 million (£1.4 million). The Candy hitmaker has lodged documents to liquidate his estate, and in papers obtained by TMZ.com, the star reveals he only has $8,232 (£5,488) in assets but claims he owes more $2.2 million.
The papers show Carter also owes $1.3 million (£866,667) in unpaid tax.
Among his debts, Carter has racked up $31,166 on an America Express credit card, and reveals he only brings in $1,998 (£1,332) a month, while his outgoings are $2,005 ($1,336).
The bankruptcy papers also reveal Carter, who is the younger brother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, is now living with a family member.
He has not released an album since 2002, but appeared on U.S. reality show Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and is currently on a tour of the U.S.
