Actor Brown dies

The renowned theatre star died on Tuesday (13Dec11) of heart failure at the Lillian Booth Actors’ Fund Nursing Home in New Jersey.

He made his name in theatre production in New York and was a founding member of the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, before moving into TV.

He is best known for his role as the school principal in ’70s sitcom Sanford & Son, as well as a recurring role as a judge on Law and Order.
