American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave among Producers Guild of America’s top prize nominees

American Hustle, Gravity, The Wolf Of Wall Street and 12 Years A Slave have all been given an Oscars boost by officials at the Producers Guild of America after featuring on their list of the top films of 2013. The quartet of movies have been joined by Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, Tom Hanks’ films Captain Phillips and Saving Mr. Banks, Dallas Buyers Club, Spike Jonze’s Her and Nebraska among the nominees for the 2014 Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, The Croods, Despicable Me 2, Epic, Frozen and Monsters University will battle it out for the animated honour.
In the TV categories, the producers of 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family and Veep will vie for The Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television (Comedy), while the brains behind Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Homeland and House of Cards will face each other for the the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television (Drama).
American Horror Story: Asylum, Behind the Candelabra, Killing Kennedy, Phil Spector and Top of the Lake producers scored mentions for the David L. Wolper Award for long-form television.
The 25th annual Producers Guild Awards will take place on 19 January (14) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California.
