Aspiring rapper Ray Jasper has been executed by lethal injection in Texas after he was convicted of the 1998 murder of a local studio owner. The 33 year old, who ran his own record label, was found guilty of fatally stabbing San Antonio businessman David Alejandro in 2000, so he and two associates could rob him of recording equipment.
Jasper, who was 19 at the time of the attack, admitted to slashing the victim’s throat, but claimed it was an accomplice who delivered the final blow that killed him.
His two co-defendants were ordered to serve life in prison, but Jasper was placed on Death Row and on Wednesday (19Mar14), he became the third man to be executed in Texas this year (14).
