Bar shut down after rapper Doe B’s shooting death

The Alabama bar where T.I.’s rap protege Doe B was shot and killed on Saturday (28Dec13) has been shut down by city officials. The up-and-coming star, real name Glenn Thomas, was one of two people who died after gunfire erupted at the Centennial Bar and Grill in his native Montgomery. Six others were also wounded and have been hospitalised.
Police have launched an investigation into the tragedy, but have yet to name any suspects or make any arrests, and the drama has prompted officials to shutter the venue after a number of similar shootings at the bar and nearby in recent years.
Mayor Todd Strange tells the Montgomery Advertiser, “Effective immediately, the city of Montgomery has taken action to close the Centennial Hill Bar and Grill…
“We do not take this action lightly but believe this decision is compelled by clear evidence that continued operation of this establishment poses an imminent threat to the public’s safety.
“I believe it is not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ the next tragic incident occurs at this business. That is unacceptable, and that is why we have ordered the business to be closed effective immediately.”
