Baz Luhrmann in talks to direct Napoleon Bonaparte miniseries

Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is in talks to direct a mini-series chronicling the life of infamous French leader Napoleon Bonaparte. Steven Spielberg is developing the screenplay, which was originally written by late moviemaker Stanley Kubrick, and he wants The Great Gatsby director to take charge of the the project, according to Deadline.com.
Kubrick was keen to turn the screenplay into a film in 1971, but studio executives refused to finance the expensive project and it went on to be known as “the greatest movie never made”.
The mini-series isn’t the only Napoleon project in the works – Snow White and the Huntsman filmmaker Rupert Sanders is set to direct a movie about France’s 18th century emperor.
