Beethoven named Hollywood’s top dog

The beloved St. Bernard character picked up 28 per cent of the vote when 13,500 film fans chose their favourite movie mutt on MovieTickets.com.

Old Yeller came in second with 24 per cent and Tom Hanks’ slobbering sidekick in Turner & Hooch claimed third place with 22 per cent of the vote.

Lassie and Rin Tin Tin also made the top five.

The poll was set up to mark the release of Marmaduke – about a clumsy Great Dane – this weekend (04Jun10).
