Benzino receives airline apology for in-flight bust-up

Rapper Benzino has received an apology from bosses at a popular U.S. airline after he was booted off a plane on Tuesday (27May14) following a dispute with a flight attendant. The hip-hop veteran and his new wife, Althea Hart, were asked to leave the Southwest Airlines aircraft during a stopover in Chicago, Illinois after he lost his temper and yelled at the stewardess, who had quizzed the couple about its first class seats.
In video footage of the bust-up, taken by another passenger and obtained by TMZ.com, Benzino can be heard cursing at the staff member, calling her a “racist motherf**ker” and a “racist b**tard”.
The rapper, whose father was from Puerto Rico and mother from Cape Verde, off the coast of West Africa, has now opened up about the incident, revealing he launched into the expletive-filled rant because he felt he and his wife were being racially profiled.
He tells TMZ.com, “They basically were talking to me very disrespectful and came at me inappropriate (sic). That’s why I was upset about the situation. I am not the one to scream the race card (sic) unless I truly believe I am being treated not equal (sic).”
Benzino, who was en route to his home in Atlanta, Georgia, complained about the alleged treatment to customer service officials and was handed a voucher for $200 (£125) to make amends for the bad experience.
The incident ended an eventful Memorial Day weekend in Vegas for the star – he wed his girlfriend at Sin City’s famous Little Wedding Chapel during the trip.
