BET honors Washington, Houston

Winners at Tuesday’s inaugural Black Entertainment Television Awards included some well-known Hollywood names: Denzel Washington scored the best actor award for Remember the Titans and Whitney Houston reached a personal high note, taking home the first Lifetime Achievement Award. Newcomer Sanaa Lathan snagged the best actress award for Love and Basketball. Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer hosted the show, which aired live from the Paris Las Vegas hotel. Other winners include Outkast, for both best male group and best video, Mrs. Jackson; Destiny’s Child, for best female group; Nelly, for best new artist; and Lil Bow Wow, who took home the viewer’s choice award for What’s My Name.
