The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star walked free from a jail in New Orleans, Louisiana on $5,000 (£3,125) bail.
He flashed a smile to waiting photographers and was greeted by his mother, Barbara, and rumoured girlfriend, Oriela Medellin Amieiro.
Brand, who is filming a movie in the city, surrendered to police earlier in the day after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday night (14Mar12).

He was questioned over his run-in with a paparazzo on Monday (12Mar12), when Brand allegedly hurled the snapper’s iPhone through the window of a nearby building.
Brand was booked on one count of simple criminal damage to property and faces a $700 (£437) fine for his outburst.
