Broadway musical Wonderland to close

Wonderland, an updated version of Lewis Carroll’s classic story, premiered on 17 April (11) after four weeks of previews and the multi-million dollar show received a slew of bad reviews.

The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney called the stage show a “clumsy Lewis Carroll update” and described the music as “bland ‘80s pop imitations and third-rate show tunes”, while The New York Times reviewer Charles Isherwood branded the storyline “convoluted”.

Producers have now announced the curtain will fall on Wonderland on Sunday (15May11), with production shutting down after just 31 official performances.
