The animated show, which ran between 1990 and 1996, focused on an environment-saving superhero – a character created by media mogul Ted Turner.
The tycoon’s production company is teaming up with Transformers producer Don Murphy to bring Captain Planet and the Planeteers to life in a live-action adventure.
Murphy says, “We are extremely excited about bringing the good Captain back to life. His adventures are known worldwide and he is recognised across generations.”
