Chenoweth honoured at GLAAD Media Awards

The Glee star was presented with the Vanguard Award by close pal Sean Hayes at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (10Apr11).

Chenoweth appeared overwhelmed as she accepted the honour and broke down in tears as she received a standing ovation from the audience, according to E! News blogger Marc Malkin.

The actress told the crowd at the Westin Bonaventure hotel, “Teach love, not just tolerance and acceptance.”

Gay icon Dolly Parton was a surprise guest at the ceremony, hosted by Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones. The country singer presented the Stephen F. Kolzak Award to NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt.

Other winners included TV hits Glee and Modern Family, which shared the Outstanding Comedy honour, while I Love You Phillip Morris, starring Jim Carrey as a jailed con artist who falls in love with his cellmate, played by Ewan McGregor, was named Outstanding Film (Limited Release). Project Runway landed the Outstanding Reality Program prize.
