Composer Joseph Brooks’ son sentenced to maximum prison spell

The son of Oscar-winning composer Joseph Brooks has been sentenced to 25 years-to-life behind bars. Nicholas Brooks, 27, was handed the maximum sentence in New York on Monday (23Sep13) after he was convicted for killing his fashion designer girlfriend Sylvie Cachay in 2010.
Prosecutors in the case against Brooks revealed he strangled his lover of six months after she announced she was leaving him.
His composer father, who wrote the 1970s song You Light Up My Life, killed himself in 2011, while he was fighting charges of raping or molesting 13 would-be actresses.
