David Bowie pays tribute to Trevor Bolder

Rock icon David Bowie has paid tribute to his former bandmate Trevor Bolder after the bassist lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday (21May13). The 62-year-old Uriah Heep star got his big break in the 1970s as a member of Bowie’s backing band Spiders From Mars, and appeared on the star’s classic albums Hunky Dory and Aladdin Sane.
Now Bowie has offered his condolences in a touching statement posted on his Facebook.com page, which reads, “Trevor was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration for whichever band he was working with. But he was foremostly (sic) a tremendous guy, a great man.”
Bolder bowed out of Uriah Heep a few months ago when his health deteriorated, and the band’s lead guitarist Mick Box has hailed him as a great friend.
Box says, “Trevor was a world-class bass player, singer and songwriter, and more importantly a world-class friend. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and rock fans all over the world. We are all numb to the core.”
