Late pop icon David Cassidy specifically left his actress daughter Katie out of his will, choosing his son to inherit his estate.
The Partridge Family actor/singer passed away last month (Nov17), days after he was hospitalized in Florida for organ failure.
The 67-year-old’s final will and testament has since been obtained by TheBlast.com, and although he acknowledges fathering two children, he makes it clear any mentions of his “child or children” are solely in reference to his 26-year-old son Beau, from his third marriage to Sue Shifrin, and not Arrow star Katie Cassidy.
According to the outlet, Beau will inherit all of David’s various assets, which amount to an estimated $150,000.
David and Katie had a complicated relationship as he wasn’t involved in her early upbringing following his split from her mother, former model Sherry Williams, in the late 1980s.
They grew closer as Katie pursued a career in Hollywood, with David serving as more of a friend than a father, and in 2009, he opened up about their unique relationship to People magazine, saying, “Because I didn’t raise her, I didn’t have to parent her. I’m always here and totally nonjudgmental.”
However, they had become estranged in recent years, with Katie only reuniting with her dad on his deathbed.
The 31-year-old recently broke her silence about her family’s loss to thank fans for their outpouring of support, revealing his last words were, “So much wasted time” – a comment which inspired Katie to “share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute…”
Meanwhile, David’s death certificate, on which the cause of his passing has been redacted, suggests his body has already been cremated.
According to The Blast, there was no funeral, although his loved ones are planning to hold a private memorial service after the festive holidays. A public celebration of his life is also reportedly being considered.
