Australian singer Delta Goodrem has thanked her fans for their continued support as she marked 10 years since her cancer diagnosis. The Lost Without You hitmaker was just 18 when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, on 8 July, 2003.
After undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation treatment, she went on to make a full recovery, and the singer, now 28, reached out to her devotees on Monday (08Jul13) as she marked the life-changing date.
Goodrem shared a black and white photograph on Twitter.com of herself in the recording studio with a bald head after losing her hair during radiotherapy treatment.
In an accompanying post, the singer writes, “Ten years ago today July the 8th 2003 my life was turned upside down… I was petrified & shook uncontrollably for the next 48 hours after hearing the words… ‘You have cancer’ I am so thankful to be here today… To hopefully stand as a symbol of hope and strength for those in the midst of there (sic) battle to visualize (sic) getting better and to know that they are not alone… Thanku (sic) for all being with me through the different chapters.”
