Duo held over alleged concert con

Two men were arrested in New York on Thursday (18Jul13) on suspicion of duping concert promoters out of millions by pretending to be the managers of Lady Gaga, Ke$Ha and Rihanna. Sylvester Vincent Carroll and Meceo McEaddy are accused of stealing more than $2 million (£1.2 million) by conning promoters around the world into believing they were booking the superstars for gigs.
According to the district attorney’s office, the pair convinced a Brazilian event company to hand over $825,000 (£532,000) in 2010 by using a fake email account in the name of Rihanna’s manager.
They then allegedly tricked a Mexican promoter into paying for Lady Gaga to perform, and also targeted concert organisers in Long Island, New York and Taiwan.
The pair was charged with felony grand larceny and scheming to defraud in the first degree. Carroll faces an extra count of criminal tax fraud. Both men remain in custody.
