Ellie Goulding struggled to keep royal wedding performance secret

British singer Ellie Goulding reveals she had an extremely difficult time keeping her private performance at Prince William and Catherine, Duchess Of Cambridge’s wedding reception a secret – because she wanted to share her royal appointment with family and friends. The Burn hitmaker was personally asked by the British royals to perform at their post-wedding party in 2011, and the couple took to the dancefloor as Goulding sang a cover of Sir Elton John’s classic track Your Song.
The 27 year old tells U.K.’s Marie Claire magazine that keeping quiet about the gig was one of the toughest things she has ever had to do.
Goulding explains, “In the weeks before, everyone I know was talking about the wedding, and I was… trying not to say anything. I kept it to myself for so long – but no one would have believed me anyway.
“I talked to William and Kate quite a bit. They’re just a really awesome couple, lovely people, so I understand why people are fascinated by them… It was a really beautiful night – but then, I haven’t been to many weddings.”
