Eminem & Lorde top U.S. charts for Thanksgiving

Eminem and Lorde have much to be thankful for as America begins its Thanksgiving celebrations – they’ve landed the top spots on the nation’s final album and singles charts before the official start of the holiday season. The rapper’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 returns to number one with an impressive 120,000 copies sold in its third week.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 earlier this month (Nov13).
Even more impressive, Australian teenager Lorde has scored a ninth week atop the Hot 100 countdown with her hit Royals.
Chart experts predicted the 17 year old would be dethroned by Eminem and Rihanna’s The Monster, but fans failed to give the rapper a chart double for Thanksgiving.
Instead, The Monster spends a third week at number two and Miley Cyrus’ former chart-topper, Wrecking Ball, also stays put at three.
OneRepublic’s Counting Stars and Avicii’s Wake Me Up! round out the new top five.
Meanwhile, back on the album chart, rockers Five Finger Death Punch score the week’s highest debut at two with The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2, and the Now 48 compilation stays put at three.
The Robertsons’ Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas and the new The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack round out the top five.
