Festival bosses ban phones

Bosses of Polish rock festival Unsound have fired the latest shot in the war on phone-obsessed fans by banning cameras from the event. Organisers of the concert in Krakow have issued a warning to ticket-holders that the use of smartphones, cameras, and other recording devices will not be permitted in the arena for this year’s event.
A spokesman says, “Unsound is imposing a ban on photographs and filming of live shows as part of its 2013 INTERFERENCE theme – no photo passes will be given to media, and audience members should resist the temptation to put cameras or mobile phones into action.
“The idea behind this ban is not to denigrate photographers or cast aspersions upon the desire to take snapshots of one’s own life, but rather an experiment in resisting contemporary habits as they pertain to instant documentation, ‘sharing’, and lived experience.”
Unsound runs from 13-20 October (13).
